Twitter’s an amazing resource for professional development for teachers. It’d be even better if students were on it talking about their school and education too. Here’s my idea.
A rundown on what we’ve been up to at the end of last year and beginning of this one and also some free stuff for you.
A short, practical session to help students look at the pros and cons of different ways of collecting views from across the school.
A recent piece Greg wrote for LSN’s magazine about why learner voice is important.
What’s your school council really about? How do you measure its success? Is it by what it changes or how well it represents all pupils’ views?
A few reflections on starting up our social enterprise. Not to suggest that we’ve had world-beating success or anything, but we’ve learned a few important things whilst building up this organisation round a set of ideas.
We’ve found some great resources for you, created a student voice audit tool and been doing some thinking about why democracy in schools is so important.
Lots of schools are beginning to think about training their school council, or student voice groups, for next academic year.

A session from training I ran at the Albion High School in Salford on how to create a communication plan that will get more people involved with your school council.
A short toolkit covering many of the essentials anyone working with school/ student/ pupil councils will find useful. If your school council has got a bit stale this will challenge you to think about how it’s set up and help you find a better way.
Slovakian adventure!

I’m back in London, via Vienna, after an amazing time in Kosice, Slovakia. It was a very inspiring and interesting three days.
Great to hear about the challenges, successes and stories of people in other countries who are broadly trying to do the same things as us in the UK. Great to meet so many motivated, passionate young people. Great to visit Slovakia for the first time – it is a beautiful country!
