Tokyo Woman Jailed for Avatar "Murder"

According to an Associated Press story, a Tokyo woman is in jail today for logging on to a virtual world and deleting her virtual husband’s virtual identity.

The woman, a 43-year-old piano teacher, was evidently upset that her online companion in a virtual world called “Maple Story”

A group calling itself the “Typo Eradication Advancement League” has set out on a year-long journey across America to combat irritating grammatical errors. The aim of Jeff Spokane and friends is to “make the US a safer place for spelling”. “We carry a supply of erasers, chalk, and white-out fluid and correct errors wherever we see them”, says Spokane. “Our efforts are not always appreciated. We were once thrown out of a bar for trying to correct a sign that said “cake’s.”

Spreading the use of Oyster north of Finsbury Park station

It’s one of the great successes of Transport for London. Yes – you heard right – TfL and the word ‘success’ in the same breath. I’m talking Oyster!

Now we tap in and tap out without a second thought. We nimbly flit from tube to bus – tap in / tap out. And then we try and nimbly flit from tube to bus to train – and oh dear – we can’t!

Admissions…

Heard on Radio4 (Boadcasting House) 2 Mar 08 by mj: Tomorrow is A Day. Admissions Day; the long-awaited morning when half a million fretful parents will learn whether their child has got into the secondary school of their choice. For months parents have being saying things ‘We’re hoping he’ll get into this marvellous school just outside Calais. It’ll mean Timmy leaving the house 4.30 every morning to catch the Eurostar, but I think it’s worth it don’t you…’

Just saw this, which mentions us, which is nice.

Apparently it was written by a “Stroud News and Journal Reporter”, but there are a few tiny clues that it might actually just be a press release cut and psted onto their website….

Not only have them managed to leave in the ‘Notes to the Editor’ and contact details, but also the ‘Please think before printing this email message’.
